Topic: Link point editor for default objects

The default objects have default link points like 2 for a line and 5 for a rectangle.
Would it be possible to add the Link point editor so corner link point for a rectangle can be edited/added or link points on a line?

Re: Link point editor for default objects

You can easily create your own rectangle object with the links you need by simply grouping connected lines.

Re: Link point editor for default objects

Hi

I have tested this feature ...
1) drawing 4 lines,
2) connection the 4 lines to endpoints,
3) grouping the object

After this have have a rectangle with link point on the middle of each line.
IF
I do not group the lines, then there is connection in each corner, but the object/rectangle is also harder to move around!

I still miss
I will be nice if default number of link points was 9 (corners and middle of lines + center)
AND
Even better would be if DD had Link Point Editor on Rectangle objects

Re: Link point editor for default objects

You can configure the default link points for groups in the Settings dialog.

Re: Link point editor for default objects

Hi Michael,
Sorry I think you are misunderstanding what I try to tell ... it this is not about default link points, but it is about a missing option for adding user defind link points.
Let me show an example here: Why are there difference between this two objects?

Re: Link point editor for default objects

Ok, I understand. They are not in the standard objects because I didn't see a need for them and I tried to keep the standard objects as simple as possible. It should be possible to create you own object with the same behavior by grouping.

Re: Link point editor for default objects

Thanks Michael.
I learned how to draw a object, group it and add extra link points.
My wishes has come true, no need for you to change anything smile
Kind regards

Re: Link point editor for default objects

Hi Michael

I have been working with the Grouped lines for a while now and I have some issues that is problematic for me.
That is why I still hope you could add the LINK POINT feature to the rectangle object?!

Just to summarize,
* normal lines do not have Link points option (1+2)
* when I connect and group lines then the Link Points option show up (3+4+5+6)
* when I look for Link points in a normal rectangle I do not find it (7+8)

What I miss is this:
* text label in the middle of the rectangle (and free label is not good)
* background color, both looks better and is easier to handle/grap with the mouse
* size adjustment using the Properties dialog
* and more

I hope you understand
Have a nice summer
Kind regards
Mark

Re: Link point editor for default objects

Hello Mark,

Not a answer to all your questions put perhaps this works for you.
Grouping works with 2 or more objects, if you put something on a rectangle and send it to the background you can group these objects.
The group has a link editor and the rectangle has background and text, you can change it by selecting the rectangle in the object tree and the change properties.

Fred.
