Topic: How do I get older versions?

I liked the fact that some of the previous versions did NOT require installation. Just unzip and run. With the latest version, installation is REQUIRED. For portable perposes (run from USB jumpdrive on any Windows computer anywhere) installation is not possible. Yet you don't seem to have an old versions archived download section (at least not a publicly available version). Please help me find a download for the last version which was possible to run without installation.

Re: How do I get older versions?

Actually the reasons why I don't have the zip versions any more is that it is hard to find download space and I don't want to spend too much time on maintaining different releases. I would have to pay much more to be allowed to use higher download bandwidth from the meesoft.com server so I try to move most of the traffic to freeware sites like Brothersoft or Tucows, and these companies prefer a normal installer (and uninstaller) as this is what most people want.
You can just run the installer and make it install on your USB disk if you want. Or you can use WinRAR. The installers are in fact just self-extracting RAR-archives so if you have WinRAR you can open them as normals archives and extract the files wherever you want.

Re: How do I get older versions?

Thanks, but don't most "installers" add registry entries behind the scenes? If so this means the new versions (using installers) REQUIRE specific registry entries. While the older versions did NOT require use of the registry. This means that ONLY the old versions could be considered "portable apps" and run from a USB drive on any computer, while the new versions are meant to ONLY run on one fixed computer.

I assume that you still have the older zipped versions on your personal home computer. This means you could upload one of these older versions to Megaupload, Rapidshare, eSnips, or Mediafire, then send me the download link over email. My email address is benhut1@gmail.com.

Or you could simply use ftp or bittorrent to send them and post the ftp links or bittorrent links on your site so others could download the older versions too.

I have a free ftp server software called FileZilla server running on my computer. check it out at ftp://76.104.145.19
I already am paying for internet access. Comcast does not require any fees for me using my internet connection for hosting ftp, website, or other online hosting service on my computer. I'd only have to pay more if I wanted my address to be something nice like www.mysite.com, otherwise they don't care if I simply host it on my computer, which as you can see has the IP address 76.104.145.19
In fact if right now you check my FTP site ftp://76.104.145.19 you'll see you can download the current version of Image Analyzer.

Also, my Norton Antivirus firefox plugin shows a warning indication that Brothersoft is a dangerous site. It says this no matter what page of that site I'm on.

Re: How do I get older versions?

Why don't you just do as I suggest and use WinRAR to extract the files from the installer?

Re: How do I get older versions?

Actually, the real problem is that this is not a 'Portable' program at all.  All of the program options are stored in the registry instead of an 'ini' file in the application folder.  Is there any way the program could be made to address this?

Thanks for an otherwise great program...

TT

Re: How do I get older versions?

If you use the latest beta and put a file called analyzer.ini in the program directory then settings will be kept in this file instead of in the registry (for the program itself, not any plugins).
